Nigeria’s Francis Orbih clinches seat on Badminton World Federation Council
The President of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria, Mr. Francis Orbih, has been elected as a Council Member of the Badminton World Federation (BWF).
The election took place on Saturday, April 26, during the BWF Annual General Meeting in Xiamen, China, where Mr. Orbih emerged victorious ahead of other contenders from across Africa.
With this achievement, Mr. Orbih will now join Cameroon’s Odette Assembe Engoulou on the prestigious council, while Chipo Zumburani of Zimbabwe and Hadia ElSaid of Egypt missed out in their respective bids.
In his remarks, Mr. Orbih expressed deep appreciation to the Federal Government of Nigeria, especially the National Sports Commission, for the solid backing he received throughout his campaign for the international position.
