Timileyin Ajayi, a 32-year-old man caught with the severed head of Salome Adaidu, has confessed to killing her, claiming he has no regrets as he believed she was unfaithful.

Ajayi is currently in custody at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Nasarawa State Police Command in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State.

Speaking to Channels TV, Ajayi said, “I killed her because we didn’t spend enough time together. It wasn’t planned; it just happened that day. She was cheating on me. I found messages on her phone from other men. That’s why I did it.

“I don’t feel any regret because I think life is reciprocal. If someone does something to you, you have to respond in kind. I believe we were compatible, and I have no regrets.”

However, Salome Adaidu’s family has denied any knowledge of a relationship between her and Ajayi, describing his actions as monstrous.

Salome’s elder sister, Esther Adaidu, said, “This man, Timi, we don’t know him. We’ve never seen him before. We only found out about him when we were told he killed and dismembered my sister.

“I demand justice. He has admitted to the crime, and he must face the consequences.”

Salome’s uncle, Samson Adaidu, also spoke on behalf of the family, saying, “We learnt about this through the Nigerian Police. What he did to our daughter is beyond comprehension. He didn’t just kill her; he butchered her body into over 50 pieces.

“It looks like he was preparing to consume her remains because the body parts were packed into six different polythene bags.”

Salome had reportedly visited Ajayi at his home in the Papalana area of New Karshi in the Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State before the tragic incident occurred.

The Nasarawa State Police Command has promised a thorough investigation and justice for the victim.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, said, “The investigation is ongoing. Once it’s complete, the suspect will be charged to court.

“We assure the family and the public that this suspect will not go unpunished if found guilty. We encourage anyone with additional complaints against him to come forward, and we will investigate.”

This case has left many shocked, with calls for swift justice to be served for Salome Adaidu and her grieving family.
