FG to upgrade state house medical centre

The federal government has inaugurated a high-level technical committee to reposition the State House Medical Centre for effective service delivery.
Inaugurating the committee in Abuja, the Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, explained that the formation of the committee was a special assignment from President Bola Tinubu aimed at enhancing the nation’s healthcare system through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework.
According to Dr. Alausa, the committee’s establishment was to introduce strategic collaboration with the private sector for greater efficiency and meet global standards.
The minister outlined the committee’s terms of reference to include implementation of frameworks, procurement process management, stakeholder engagement, evaluation, contract documentation, and setting clear timelines and deliverables.
He further said all the committee members were carefully selected based on their track records and to represent various constituencies.
“Every member of this working group has been engaged by the President to do this work, and I charge you to do it with vigour and a sense of purpose. Let’s keep sentiments aside. It’s not about taking the job away from civil servants; it’s about efficiency,” he said.
The Special Adviser to the President on Health Matters, Dr. Salma Anas, who is the Chairperson of the committee, acknowledged the committee’s readiness to work diligently to actualise the transformation of the State House Medical Centre.
“On behalf of the team and the experts that you have brought here on board, I want to say we have accepted this task. But you are not going to leave us alone—we will continue to come and seek guidance and update you frequently,” she said.
