20-Year-Old arrested for allegedly killing Father in Jigawa

A 20-year-old man, Muhammad Salisu, has been taken into police custody for allegedly murdering his father, Salisu Abubakar, in Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The tragic incident reportedly happened around 10 a.m. at Bakin Kasuwa Quarters in the Sara District.
In a statement released on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Shi’isu Adam, confirmed that the suspect attacked his father with a machete, causing fatal injuries to his shoulder, neck, and chest. The victim was quickly rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kudu, but was confirmed dead on arrival.
Following the incident, the Divisional Police Officer in Sara and his team swiftly moved to the scene, evacuated the victim, and arrested the suspect. The police also recovered the machete said to have been used in the attack.
According to the police spokesperson, the corpse was later handed over to the family for burial rites. The Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, AT Abdullahi, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse for detailed investigation.
The Commissioner assured that justice would be pursued, promising that the suspect would be charged to court after the investigation was concluded. “The police command is determined to ensure justice is served in this heinous crime,” Abdullahi stated.
The police also appealed to the public for any useful information regarding the incident that could aid in the ongoing investigation.
