VeryDarkMan leads protest to FCT Minister’s Office over Teachers’ strike

Controversial activist and social media influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), on Monday staged a dramatic protest at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister’s office in Abuja, demanding urgent action over the lingering teachers’ strike affecting primary schools in the capital city.
NUJFCT reports that primary school teachers in the FCT have been on strike for over 90 days, since March 24, 2025, over the failure of Area Council Chairmen to implement the newly approved N70,000 national minimum wage.
In an unusual show of solidarity, VeryDarkMan appeared at the protest dressed in a primary school uniform and led a group of schoolchildren, also clad in uniforms, to stage an open-air classroom protest right at the Minister’s gate.
In a widely shared video clip, the activist could be seen conducting a mock class, reciting the alphabet in protest tones.
“S for Suegbe, T for Tinubu, W for Wike,” he chanted, as the children repeated after him, drawing attention from passersby and security personnel.
When journalists sought his comments, VDM declined to speak, insisting the children would remain at the Minister’s gate as their new classroom until authorities intervened to resolve the strike.
At the time this report was filed, the children were seen enjoying a lunch break of rice and chicken provided by the activist and his supporters.
The protest highlights rising public frustration over the prolonged teachers’ strike that has left thousands of pupils stranded at home without formal education for months.
