Taraba Assembly denies plot to replace ailing Deputy Governor Aminu Alkali
The Taraba State House of Assembly has dismissed claims that it is plotting to replace the state’s Deputy Governor, Aminu Alkali, who is currently receiving treatment at a medical facility in Abuja.
Nelson Len, Chairman of the House Committee on Information, made this clarification while addressing journalists in Jalingo on Thursday. He explained that there was no plan by the Assembly or any arm of government to declare the deputy governor incapacitated.
Len assured the public that Alkali would return to his office as soon as he fully recovers, urging residents to disregard the rumours suggesting otherwise.
“We call on the general public to disregard the speculations that the Assembly is preparing to declare the deputy governor incapacitated,” Len stated.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Alkali embarked on a medical leave in November 2024, a development that has stirred concerns among citizens over the length of his absence from office.
