Tinubu names ex-Presidential aide Ismael Ahmed as Head of CNG Initiative
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Barrister Ismael Ahmed as the Executive Chairman of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi).
The appointment was confirmed in a statement issued on Friday by the President’s media aide, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, Ahmed will oversee the activities of the initiative, which is one of the government’s strategies to cushion the impact of the removal of fuel subsidies by promoting cheaper, cleaner, and more affordable energy alternatives for Nigerians.
The Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative forms part of the broader palliative intervention programmes designed by the Tinubu administration to provide relief and improve access to sustainable energy options across the country.
Ahmed, 45, holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Abuja and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2006 after completing his legal training at the Nigerian Law School in Abuja.
He also earned a master’s degree in international relations, communications, and diplomacy from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, USA, in 2008.
Before this appointment, Ismael Ahmed served as the Senior Special Assistant to former President Muhammadu Buhari on the National Social Investment Programme, a position he held from 2018 to 2022.
