Tinted glass permit: Police extend grace period to October

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has extended the enforcement deadline for obtaining the Tinted Glass Permit from 12 August to 2 October 2025.
In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the decision was attributed to a marked increase in applications through the official portal, indicating heightened public compliance with the directive.
The statement noted that the extension would allow adequate time for thorough scrutiny of applications to ensure permits are issued only to eligible and qualified individuals, in line with national security requirements.
It further explained that the additional period would be used to refine both digital and physical verification processes, thereby safeguarding the integrity of the system and preventing potential abuse.
The Police urged members of the public to report any incidents of extortion, hidden charges, or unauthorised processing to the appropriate authorities.
Appreciating the cooperation of Nigerians, the Force reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a balance between public convenience and stringent security measures for the safety of all.
