BREAKING: Court clears Naira Marley, Sam Larry, Primeboy of any role in Mohbad’s death

A Magistrate Court in Yaba, Lagos, has officially exonerated Nigerian singer Azeez Fashola (Naira Marley) and three others from any involvement in the tragic and widely debated death of fellow artist Aloba Oladimeji Ileri-Oluwa, popularly known as Mohbad.
Delivering the ruling on Tuesday, Magistrate Ejiro Kubenje relied on legal advice from the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP), which found no evidence linking the accused to Mohbad’s demise. Consequently, music promoter Samson Balogun Eletu (Sam Larry), Owodunni Ibrahim (Primeboy), and Mohbad’s former manager, Opere Babatunde, were all absolved of wrongdoing.
The court stated that a review of the police investigation and available evidence confirmed that the four men had no direct connection to Mohbad’s death.
However, the DPP’s legal advice implicated Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who treated Mohbad, and his friend Ayobami Sadiq. Both are set to face prosecution for reckless and negligent conduct, in violation of Section 251 (e) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Lagos State Government had initially filed charges against all the defendants on 6th October 2024, following Mohbad’s shocking death on 12th September 2023 in Lagos. His passing sparked nationwide outrage, with many demanding justice.
With the latest court ruling, attention is now shifting to the prosecution of those still under investigation.
