BREAKING: FG declares Friday, Monday as public holidays for Easter celebration
The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays in observance of this year’s Easter festivities.
Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, made the announcement on behalf of the government, extending warm congratulations to Christians in Nigeria and across the diaspora.
In a statement signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, Tunji-Ojo urged Nigerians to embrace virtues such as selflessness, forgiveness, forbearance, and love, as exemplified by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
He further called on citizens to uphold tolerance and unity, stressing that these values are essential for national cohesion.
The minister also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to policies aimed at fostering national renewal, economic growth, and shared prosperity for all Nigerians, while wishing Christians a peaceful and joyous Easter celebration.
