Former Nigerian Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, has been acquitted of six bribery-related charges by a jury in London.

The verdict was delivered on Wednesday following a rare corruption trial involving a former senior energy official.

Alison-Madueke, who served as Nigeria’s petroleum minister from 2010 to 2015 during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, had faced five counts of accepting bribes and one count of conspiracy to commit bribery.

Throughout the trial, she denied all the allegations brought against her.

After considering the evidence presented, the London jury found her not guilty on all six charges, bringing the high-profile case to a close.
