Comoros set for Super Falcons clash after record 30–0 aggregate win in Olympic qualifiers
Comoros are set to face Nigeria’s Super Falcons in the next round of the 2028 Olympic Games qualifiers after recording a historic 30–0 aggregate victory over Sudan.
The Coelacanths delivered one of the most dominant performances in recent qualifying history, winning the first leg 17–0 on June 3 before sealing the tie with a 13–0 triumph in the return leg five days later.
Across both matches, Comoros displayed overwhelming attacking superiority, with nine different players getting on the scoresheet in the first leg alone, highlighting their depth and offensive efficiency.
In the second leg, they continued their ruthless form, scoring three goals before halftime and adding 10 more after the break to complete a comprehensive sweep.
Despite their record-breaking performance, Comoros are expected to face a much tougher challenge against Nigeria, who remain one of Africa’s most dominant forces in women’s football.
The Super Falcons, under coach Justine Madugu, have continued to show strong form, recently defeating Senegal 3–0 in a friendly match at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, following a 2–1 win in their first meeting.
The second-round qualifiers are scheduled for October 5–13, 2026, with two African teams expected to secure tickets to the women’s football tournament at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, United States.
