Court delays ruling on El-Rufai’s bail, fixes March 31 for hearing
A Federal High Court in Kaduna State has postponed further proceedings on the bail application filed by former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, fixing March 31, 2026, for continuation of the case.
The adjournment followed Tuesday’s court session where both the prosecution and defence presented their arguments before the court.
Counsel to the defendant, Ukpon Akpan, urged the court to admit his client to bail, pointing to his constitutional rights and the need for him to have enough time and access to properly prepare his defence.
However, the prosecution opposed the request, insisting that the allegations against the former governor are serious and that granting bail could affect ongoing investigations.
