BREAKING: Former Kaduna Governor docked over alleged wiretapping of NSA conversation
The Department of State Services (DSS) on Thursday arraigned former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over allegations of unlawfully accessing the telephone conversation of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
El-Rufai is being prosecuted on a five-count amended charge before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
At the commencement of proceedings, the prosecution informed the court that the initial three-count charge had been amended and expanded to five counts.
Following the development, the presiding judge, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, struck out the earlier charge.
The former governor, however, pleaded not guilty to all five counts preferred against him.
The case comes amid earlier public comments attributed to El-Rufai, in which he alleged during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time in February that a telephone conversation involving the NSA was wiretapped, allowing him to hear alleged instructions regarding his arrest.
