Kaduna residents warned as NDA cadets begin live fire drill
The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has announced plans to conduct a live firing exercise for cadets of its 76 Regular Course as part of ongoing training aimed at enhancing combat readiness.
This was disclosed in a statement issued in Kaduna on Thursday by the Academy’s Public Relations Officer, Maj. Reuben Kovangiya.
According to the statement, the exercise, tagged “Elementary Application of Fire,” is scheduled to take place between April 23 and April 25 at the NDA Open Range in Afaka, Kaduna State.
Kovangiya explained that the training will involve both daytime and nighttime firing activities designed to expose cadets to practical weapons handling under controlled conditions.
He assured residents of nearby communities, including Mando, Tsamiya, Kauya, and Afaka, that adequate safety measures have been put in place to ensure the exercise is conducted without risk to lives or property.
The NDA spokesman, however, advised members of the public to stay clear of the designated training area throughout the duration of the exercise, warning against any form of unauthorised access.
He also appealed for cooperation and understanding from residents, urging strict compliance with all safety instructions issued by military authorities.
