Dabiri-Erewa: Tinubu’s reforms will benefit Nigerians abroad
The Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s perceived tough reforms and policies will ultimately yield positive results for all, emphasising that the welfare of Nigerians remains his priority.
Dabiri-Erewa gave this assurance during various meetings in London with the UK Head of the West Africa Department, Kate Airey, and Member of Parliament Florence Eshalomi, who has been newly appointed as the UK Trade Envoy to Nigeria, as well as at the Nigerian Diaspora Direct Investment Summit (NDDIS).
During her meeting with Dabiri-Erewa at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, Ambassador Kate Airey underscored the significance of the UK-based Nigerian diaspora and the necessity of deepening engagement between both countries. She also expressed her willingness to collaborate with NIDCOM in all areas within the Commission’s mandate to promote national development.

Airey commended the Commission’s efforts so far and lauded Nigerians in the diaspora for their remarkable contributions and excellence, both in the UK and in Nigeria.
At her meeting with Florence Eshalomi MP, discussions focused on enhancing trade relations between Nigeria and the UK.
“I am delighted to be appointed as the UK’s Trade Envoy to Nigeria. I look forward to strengthening the UK’s relationship with Nigeria and exploring mutual growth and opportunities for both countries,” Eshalomi stated.
Similarly, at the Nigerian Diaspora Direct Investment Summit (NDDIS) in the UK, Dabiri-Erewa urged Nigerians in the diaspora to continue portraying the country positively and attracting investments, describing them as Nigeria’s foremost ambassadors.
She praised Chief Bimbo Afolayan, the Convener of the Summit, for his dedication over the years in promoting trade and investment in Nigeria and encouraged others to follow his example.
Dabiri-Erewa also reminded attendees of the upcoming Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS), scheduled to take place from 11 to 13 November in Abuja, Nigeria, urging them to support and encourage investment back home.
