ECOWAS, ISS enhance partnership to bolster Regional Security
The President of the ECOWAS Commission, Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, has received a high-level delegation from the Institute for Security Studies (ISS) to discuss the renewal of their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The meeting, held at the ECOWAS headquarters, focused on strengthening institutional collaboration in security governance, conflict prevention, and capacity-building across West Africa.
The ISS delegation, led by Ms. Lori-Anne Théroux-Bénoni and Colonel (Ret.) Hassane Koné, reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to supporting ECOWAS with research-driven policy recommendations and technical expertise. Both parties highlighted the need for evidence-based policymaking and deeper cooperation in addressing emerging security threats in the region.
As West Africa grapples with complex security challenges, the collaboration between ECOWAS and ISS underscores the crucial role of strategic partnerships in fostering peace, stability, and sustainable development.
The question remains—how effectively will these efforts translate into tangible security improvements for the people of the region?
