EPL: Ipswich Town relegated after 3-0 loss to Newcastle

Ipswich Town’s relegation from the Premier League was officially sealed on Saturday following a 3-0 defeat against Newcastle United at St James’ Park. The result also boosted Newcastle’s push for a Champions League spot.
Ipswich went into the match needing a victory over Newcastle and hoping West Ham would lose to Brighton to keep their slim survival hopes alive.
But those hopes faded after Ben Johnson received a second yellow card and was sent off late in the first half, leaving his side a man down.
The win was a significant one for Newcastle as it marked the return of their head coach, Eddie Howe, who had missed the team’s last three games while recovering from pneumonia. The convincing victory pushed the Magpies up to third place in the Premier League standings.
