FCTA Director honoured with prestigious 2024 Nigeria merit award

The Director of the Education Resource Centre at the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) Education Secretariat, Dr Neemat Daud Abdulrahim, has been honoured with the General Abdulsalami Abubakar Excellence Award in Public Service at the Nigeria Merit Awards 2024.
The award, presented by Dr A.K. Peters, Chairman of the Editorial Board and Planning Committee, recognises Dr Abdulrahim’s outstanding contributions to governance, women’s empowerment, and social justice, particularly in the education sector. Her dedication to public service and transformative leadership were highlighted as key reasons for the recognition.
Speaking at the event, Dr Aliyu Moddibo, Special Adviser on General Duties to the Vice President, praised the organisers for celebrating individuals driving national progress. He noted that Nigeria is a nation of boundless possibilities, with exceptional individuals paving the way for a prosperous future.
The Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Umar Abdulmuttalab, commended the awardees for their remarkable contributions to Nigeria’s growth and development. He urged them to remain steadfast in their efforts, stating that “the reward for hard work is more work.”
Delivering the keynote address on the theme “Nigeria Rising,” Professor Don Mcwarra called on Nigerians to remain hopeful and committed to national development. He emphasised that “Nigeria and Nigerians have the potential for greatness, and together, we can make Nigeria great again.” He further urged all citizens to contribute their quota in ensuring the nation’s resources are safeguarded and utilised for sustainable progress.
Expressing her gratitude while receiving the award, Dr Neemat Daud Abdulrahim dedicated the recognition to God and appreciated Our Nigeria News for acknowledging her contributions. She encouraged individuals to remain diligent, committed, and passionate in their pursuits, stressing that integrity and dedication are fundamental to making a lasting impact in society.
Dr. Abdulrahim, a distinguished librarian and education administrator, has over three decades of experience in shaping Nigeria’s educational landscape. She is renowned for her work in library services, public-private partnerships in education, and youth empowerment. She reaffirmed her commitment to fostering a robust education system that empowers the next generation of leaders.
The Nigeria Merit Awards 2024, held at Abuja Continental, was a grand event attended by numerous dignitaries and award recipients who have made significant contributions to the nation’s development.
