FG declares June 6, 9 as Public Holidays for Eid-el-Kabir 2025 celebration

The federal government has officially declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays in observance of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir festival.
This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement released on Monday, June 2.
In his message, Minister Tunji-Ojo extended congratulations to all Muslims across Nigeria and the Diaspora on the special occasion. He encouraged them to keep alive the spirit of sacrifice, obedience, and faith exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him).
The minister further called on Nigerians to use the Eid celebrations as a time to pray for peace, unity, and prosperity for the nation. He reassured citizens that the ongoing people-centered reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda are aimed at putting Nigeria back on the path of progress.
Tunji-Ojo also appealed for collective support from all Nigerians to work together with the current administration to restore Nigeria’s status as a great and thriving nation.
