The Federal Government has introduced a one-year National Health Fellows Programme aimed at fostering innovation and driving transformative change within Nigeria’s health sector.

This was made known in a statement issued by Mr. Alaba Balogun, Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations at the ministry, on Wednesday.

The initiative is spearheaded by the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative (SWAp) under the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

The programme seeks to cultivate a new generation of health leaders.

The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, has urged professionals from diverse fields, including health, information technology, and social sciences, to apply and participate in the initiative.

“The fellowship will assemble a cohort of emerging professionals, equipping them with the skills and motivation needed to drive meaningful change and innovation in the health sector,” the statement highlighted.

Professor Pate called on eligible Nigerian professionals to seize the opportunity, emphasising that the programme represents a renewed pathway for leadership development in the nation’s health system.
