FG to implement recommendations for National Healthcare Facility Regulatory Agency

The Federal Government has committed to adopting the recommendations of the Committee on the Establishment of the National Healthcare Facility Regulatory Agency (NHFRA), an independent body aimed at improving healthcare standards across Nigeria.
During the official presentation of the committee’s report, Minister of State for Health & Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, emphasized that NHFRA would bridge regulatory gaps in public and private healthcare facilities while working alongside existing regulatory bodies.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Daju Kachollom, hailed the initiative as a timely solution to ongoing healthcare challenges, applauding the committee led by Dr. Richardson Ajayi for its detailed report, which includes a draft establishment plan, funding strategy, and implementation framework.
Dr. Ajayi reassured stakeholders that NHFRA aligns with Nigeria’s commitment to Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring healthcare facilities adhere to essential care standards.
