FIFA introduces historic Halftime show at 2026 World Cup Final

For the first time ever, the FIFA World Cup final will feature a halftime show inspired by the Super Bowl, with British rock band Coldplay involved in selecting the performers.

The 2026 World Cup final, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will conclude on July 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Traditionally, major sporting events like the UEFA Champions League final include pre-match entertainment, but FIFA has never included a halftime show in the World Cup final.

In contrast, NFL games typically have 15-minute halftimes, while the Super Bowl extends this break to about 30 minutes for high-profile performances.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has confirmed that Chris Martin and Phil Harvey of Coldplay will play a key role in curating the 15-minute halftime lineup for the 2026 final.

This move follows the success of recent Super Bowl halftime shows, such as Kendrick Lamar’s performance, which set a new viewership record.
