Flying Eagles Down Ivorian Young Elephants 2-0 in friendly

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles secured a 2-0 victory over the Young Elephants of Côte d’Ivoire in the first of two international friendly matches on Thursday at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan, the Ivorian capital.
The match saw Captain Daniel Bameyi score from the penalty spot three minutes after the hour mark, converting from six yards following a foul on Divine Oliseh, who was making a dynamic run.
From the opening whistle, the seven-time African champions controlled the game, and the Ivorian side was fortunate to go into halftime with the score still level.
In the second half, the Flying Eagles, two-time FIFA World Cup silver medallists, were eager to extend their lead, and Oliseh sealed the win with a goal 10 minutes before the final whistle.
Both teams will face off again at the same venue on Friday, continuing their preparations for the upcoming Africa Under-20 Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place from 26th April to 18th May, 2025.
