Former Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun loses husband at 62
Former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has been thrown into mourning following the death of her husband, Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun.
Anthony, popularly known as Niyi Adeosun, died on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Lagos at the age of 62, according to a statement issued by the Adeosun family.
The statement, titled “Announcement of the Passing of Mr Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun,” was signed by Rev. C. A. Adeosun on behalf of the family.
Announcing his passing, the family described the late Anthony Adeosun as a distinguished businessman and devoted Christian whose integrity, generosity and unwavering faith positively impacted everyone who knew him.
“It is with profound sorrow, yet in total submission to the will of Almighty God, that the Adeosun family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father and brother, Mr Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun, who was called home to glory on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Lagos.
“He was 62 years old. Niyi was a distinguished businessman and a devoted Christian whose integrity, generosity and steadfast faith touched the lives of all who knew him.
“He lived a life defined by hard work, service to God and an unwavering commitment to his family and community,” the statement read.
The family expressed faith in God for comfort during the difficult period, describing his death as an irreplaceable loss.
It also disclosed that details of the funeral and Christian burial arrangements would be announced in due course.
Anthony Adeosun is survived by his wife, former Minister of Finance Kemi Adeosun, their children and his siblings, including the founder of Kuramo Capital, Adewale Adeosun.
The family thanked everyone who had reached out with prayers, condolences and support, praying for the peaceful repose of the deceased.
“We thank all who have reached out with prayers, condolences and support. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace in the bosom of the Lord,” the statement added.
