FRSC mourns loss of missing Officer as Police recover human remains, appeal launched for missing child
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed the recovery of human remains believed to be those of its missing staff member, Senior Route Commander (SRC) O.O. Lasisi (PIN C-06239).
The remains were discovered by the Osun State Police Command in a river near Iwoye-Ijesa on Monday, 17 November 2025.
In an official statement, the Corps Marshal expressed “devastating and heartbreaking sorrow” over the development and commended the Nigeria Police Force for its “swift and coordinated investigative efforts.” He also extended his condolences to the bereaved family and offered prayers for the safe return of the officer’s missing child.
The Sector Commander was formally notified of the recovery in the early hours of Tuesday, 18 November, by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Criminal Investigation Department), Osun Command. A subsequent meeting was held with the Commissioner of Police to obtain a detailed update on the investigation.
According to police findings, extensive surveillance, phone tracking and intelligence operations led to the arrest of an herbalist in Iloko-Ijesa after he allegedly fled Iwoye-Ijesa. During interrogation, the suspect claimed that the deceased was lured, killed and dismembered by an individual identified as “Victor” and other accomplices still at large.
Police reports further allege that “Victor”, said to have been in a relationship with the deceased, attempted to mislead the investigation by abandoning his vehicle along the Gbongan–Ibadan expressway, suggesting a staged kidnapping. The herbalist also stated that the missing child was taken from his residence by the same suspect. The child has not yet been located.
The recovered remains have been deposited at the UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital mortuary. A post-mortem examination and DNA analysis have been requested to formally confirm the identity. The Corps has contacted the deceased’s husband, who is based in the United States, to support the forensic process.
The Corps Marshal said:
“This is a devastating and heartbreaking loss for the Corps. We commend the Nigeria Police Force for their swift investigative efforts and extend our deepest condolences to the family of SRC O.O. Lasisi. We pray earnestly that the missing child is found safe and reunited with her loved ones.”
The FRSC and Nigeria Police Force are appealing to members of the public with relevant information to contact the Osun State Police Anti-Kidnapping Unit or the FRSC Osun Sector Command.
Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
