Gov Mbah pledges continued Justice Sector reform at NBA Conference in Enugu
Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to justice sector reform, stressing that the legal profession is more than a career but the “conscience of the nation.”
He made the remark on Sunday while addressing participants at the opening of the 2025 Annual General Conference (AGC) of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), held at the International Conference Centre, Enugu.
Governor Mbah explained that justice reform has been a central focus of his governance agenda since assuming office, noting that the initiatives taken so far are part of a broader plan to make Enugu State a hub for investment, innovation, and inclusive growth. “Since assuming office, we have made justice sector reform a cornerstone of our governance. Just a few examples will suffice,” he stated, without going into full detail.
The event, chaired by the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Dr. Sa’ad Abubakar III, highlighted the importance of the gathering. The keynote address was delivered by Julius Malema, leader of South Africa’s Economic Freedom Fighters and a member of the country’s parliament.
This year’s NBA conference drew top legal minds and policy influencers from across Africa, providing a platform to address pressing national and continental challenges while reflecting on the vital role of law in shaping fair and progressive societies.
