“I have no regrets inviting DeeOne to my podcast” – Nedu
Renowned media personality Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, popularly known as Nedu Wazobia, has made it clear that he has no regrets about featuring comedian DeeOne on his podcast, The Honest Bunch.
During his appearance on the show, DeeOne sparked controversy by claiming that outspoken media figure, VeryDarkMan, is attracted to men. The remark quickly went viral, igniting heated reactions online.
In response, VeryDarkMan fired back with explosive allegations, accusing Nedu of using his podcast as a means to exploit up-and-coming entertainers in exchange for guest appearances. He even went as far as threatening to reveal the names of women Nedu had allegedly boasted about sleeping with in the industry.
The backlash escalated into a media storm, ultimately leading to Nedu stepping away from the podcast.
However, in a fresh twist, DeeOne later admitted during an interview on TVC’s Breakfast Show that he had deliberately set a trap for VeryDarkMan—without Nedu’s knowledge.
“I planned everything on my own,” DeeOne revealed. “If I had said it on social media, people would accuse me of chasing clout for money. But I needed a platform. I had been observing VeryDarkMan for months, trying to determine whether he was genuinely advocating for Nigerians or merely manipulating public opinion. Sometimes, he gets things right, but more often than not, he jumps to conclusions and distorts narratives.”
Despite the controversy, Nedu remains unfazed. Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos on Thursday, he stood by his decision to have DeeOne on the show.
“I have no regrets inviting DeeOne onto The Honest Bunch,” he stated. “Everyone is entitled to their opinion. The show has helped many people.”
