An Israeli national, Gil Itamar, was successfully rescued in Takum Local Government Area, Taraba State, following a joint operation by the Police, Military, and local hunters. Itamar, an employee of SCC, was kidnapped by armed assailants on Thursday morning at approximately 9:15 a.m. in Atim Community, along the Takum, Chanchanji road.
The security operation, which included a rigorous cordon, search, and rescue effort, led to a fierce gun battle with the kidnappers at Kofai Ahmadu. The kidnappers were overwhelmed and forced to flee, resulting in the safe rescue of Itamar.
The rescue was confirmed by the Acting Public Relations Officer of the Taraba State Police Command, ASP James Saminu, who stated that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Takum quickly mobilized officers, along with personnel from the 67 PMF, military units, and local hunters, to respond to the distress call.
Itamar is now receiving medical care at SCC’s medical facility in Takum. Authorities are continuing efforts to track down the kidnappers, who remain at large but are under surveillance.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bretet Emmanuel Simon, commended the bravery of all involved in the operation and reaffirmed the police’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of residents in Taraba State.
