Kwankwasiyya Movement announces Kwankwaso’s formal move to ADC
The Kwankwasiyya Movement has officially confirmed that its leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, will be joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC), marking a major shift in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
The announcement, made in a press statement, revealed that Kwankwaso is scheduled to formally register with the party on Monday, March 30, 2026, at his residence in Gidan Kwankwasiyya, Miller Road, Kano, by 12 p.m.
The development has stirred reactions across the political space, as the movement directed its members nationwide to immediately align with the ADC at their respective ward, local government, and state levels.
Spokesperson of the movement, Habibu Sale Mohammed, said the decision was driven by a commitment to democratic ideals and effective governance. He noted that the move is aimed at strengthening democratic institutions and promoting leadership that reflects the aspirations of Nigerians.
According to him, the decision represents the collective interest of the people and underscores the movement’s long-standing position on the need to protect democracy and uphold the will of citizens.
The Kwankwasiyya Movement, which commands significant grassroots support, particularly in Kano State, has been closely tied to Kwankwaso’s political influence. His planned defection to the ADC is widely seen as a defining moment that could reshape political alignments ahead of future elections.
Members were also encouraged not only to register with the party but to actively participate in its activities and contribute to its growth and development across all levels.
While analysts continue to assess the broader implications of the move, there are indications that it could alter the trajectory of opposition politics in Nigeria.
The movement reaffirmed its unity and resolve, stressing its commitment to building a more inclusive and people-oriented political future.
