Lagos puts Baba Ijesha on sex offenders register after conviction
The Lagos State Government has confirmed that Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has been officially placed on the state’s sex offenders register.
The government said his name was added because he was legally convicted of sexual assault against a minor in 2022. His conviction was later upheld by the Court of Appeal and was not overturned by the Supreme Court.
According to the Lagos Ministry of Justice, every person convicted of a sexual offence in the state is automatically listed in the register, which is used to monitor offenders and protect the public.
Officials also dismissed viral claims that Baba Ijesha had been cleared of all charges. They explained that he only completed his jail term, and his conviction remains valid under Nigerian law.
The state urged the public to rely on verified information and avoid sharing false reports about the case.
