Lionel Messi faces disciplinary action for Post-Match altercation with NYCFC Coach
Lionel Messi, the renowned Argentine footballer, has received an undisclosed fine from Major League Soccer for breaching the policy against touching an opponent’s face, head, or neck.
The MLS Disciplinary Committee imposed the fine on Inter Miami forward Messi following an incident during the 2-2 draw with New York City FC on 22nd February.
The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner was seen approaching a member of the opposition coaching staff and placing his hand on the back of their neck.
In a separate incident, Messi’s teammate, Luis Suarez, was also fined for breaching the same MLS policy after pinching the back of opposing player Birk Risa’s neck during halftime.
