No fewer than 95 terrorists have been killed in a major airstrike operation carried out by the Air Component of Operation Fasan Yamma in Rijau Local Government Area of Niger State.
According to a reliable intelligence source who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets intercepted the terrorists on Tuesday at around 3:00 p.m. as they advanced from Zamfara through Kebbi towards Niger State.
The source said an investigation confirmed that the terrorists were travelling in a convoy of 108 motorcycles, heavily armed, and heading towards Warari and Ragada villages in Rijau LGA.
“The NAF fighter jets struck between Ragada and Warari at the coordinates 10° 54′ 1.51” N | 5° 25′ 4.96” E,” the source revealed. “Only 13 of the 108 terrorists managed to escape; the rest were neutralised.”
Residents of Makuku, Warari, and Ragada villages have since expressed their gratitude to the federal government for its ongoing efforts in combating banditry and restoring peace in the region.
The intelligence source also confirmed that local surveillance had verified the effectiveness of the operation and the successful elimination of the threat.
