The Nigerian Air Force has said it is investigating reports alleging that an airstrike conducted on Saturday, April 11, 2026, in Jilli may have resulted in civilian casualties at a local market.

In a statement, the Air Force said it has taken the allegations seriously and expressed empathy over any possible loss of innocent lives, stressing that the protection of civilians remains central to its operations.

The service disclosed that the Chief of Air Staff has directed the immediate activation of the Civilian Harm Accident and Investigation Cell (CHAI-Cell), which has been deployed to the area on a fact-finding mission.

According to the statement, the investigation will determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and verify claims of civilian harm.

The Air Force reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, accountability, and transparency in all its operations, adding that it will work with relevant authorities and community representatives during the review process.

It also urged the public and media to avoid speculation while investigations are ongoing, warning that premature conclusions could affect the integrity of the process.

“The Nigerian Air Force reassures all citizens of its steadfast resolve to protect both national security and civilian lives,” the statement added.
