NAPTIP partners with US Embassy to tackle human trafficking
The American Citizens Services of the United States Embassy has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in addressing the menace of human trafficking in Nigeria.
Tom Finken, Chief of the US Embassy’s American Citizens Services, made this pledge during a courtesy visit to the Director-General of NAPTIP, Binta Adamu Bello.
In her remarks, Binta Adamu Bello highlighted the significance of the partnership, noting that collaborative strategies would be developed to combat human trafficking involving American citizens.
During a strategic meeting with the US Embassy delegation, the Director-General shared insights into NAPTIP’s mandate and reiterated the agency’s dedication to securing justice for trafficking victims.
She emphasised that the agency is tasked with criminalising activities and practices that subject individuals to all forms of exploitation, including, at a minimum, sexual and labour exploitation.
The partnership is expected to strengthen efforts to eradicate human trafficking and ensure the protection of vulnerable individuals.
