NCAA moves to blacklist Fuji Star K1 De Ultimate for Six Months over Airport incident
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has disclosed its decision to place Fuji icon, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, on a six-month flight ban following a heated encounter with ValueJet airline officials at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
Michael Achimugu, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, announced the development during a press briefing held on Thursday. According to him, disciplinary actions will be taken against all those involved in the incident, stating that K1 will not be allowed to board any flight in Nigeria for the next six months.
“What I must assure the general public is that everybody involved in this will be brought to book,” Achimugu said. “As we speak, the passenger is going to be blacklisted for the next six months flying in Nigeria.”
He stressed that aviation rules are international and created to ensure the safety and rights of all passengers. “There is nothing about the rules that is to antagonise any passenger. So, we will do everything we can to get to the root of it. Everybody who needs to be punished or sanctioned will receive justice,” he added.
Achimugu further confirmed that the NCAA has reached out to the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police, urging them to initiate legal proceedings against the musician.
When asked whether K1 De Ultimate’s close ties with President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, could sway the case, Achimugu maintained that the Authority is committed to enforcing the law without fear or favour, and that no individual, no matter their status, is above due process.
