Nigerian Army Chief vows strengthened security in Benue
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has pledged enhanced security in troubled communities across Benue.
Speaking on Tuesday during his maiden operational visit to Nigerian Army formations in Makurdi, Shaibu confirmed that additional troops had been deployed to bolster ongoing operations and improve security outcomes in the state.
He explained that his visit aimed to assess operational readiness and ensure that military formations effectively tackle the security challenges affecting Benue. The COAS also commended the formations for their professionalism and resilience, emphasizing that their primary duty remained the defence of Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
Shaibu assured the troops that their welfare was a top priority and reaffirmed the army’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for personnel to excel in their careers.
Describing the military as a noble profession, he urged soldiers to remain disciplined, vigilant, and focused, while diligently executing duties and obeying lawful orders to strengthen national security.
