Nigerian Navy Officers undergo cross-attachment training in Egypt
A delegation from the Nigerian Navy has commenced a cross-attachment visit to the Egyptian Navy as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation.
The programme, which began in early February 2026, includes officers and personnel drawn from various branches of the Nigerian Navy. Officials said the initiative is aimed at deepening collaboration, sharing operational best practices, and enhancing capacity in maritime security operations.
The engagement forms part of the broader Nigeria–Egypt defence partnership, which has previously seen joint exercises, intelligence exchanges, and specialised training programmes. Both countries face similar maritime security challenges, including piracy, illegal fishing, smuggling, and other transnational threats.
Officials noted that the visit is expected to improve interoperability between the two navies and boost operational effectiveness. The delegation is scheduled to conclude the programme later this month.
