NPFL Summons Lobi Stars Media Officer over match-fixing allegations

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has summoned Lobi Stars’ media officer, Emmanuel Ujah, following serious allegations of match-fixing involving players of the Makurdi-based club.
Ujah reportedly accused some of the club’s players of placing bets on league matches. These claims were made in a written statement and an audio recording, prompting the league’s authorities to act swiftly.
In response, the NPFL convened a disciplinary panel today, during which Ujah is expected to present evidence and clarify his statements.
According to NPFL Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi, Ujah’s comments represent a violation of the League’s Code of Conduct for Officials. Owumi said the remarks not only damage the reputation of the NPFL but also threaten the integrity of the league’s operations and governance structure.
The outcome of the disciplinary session could have significant implications for both the official and the club, as the NPFL continues its drive to maintain credibility and transparency in Nigerian football.
