Police arrest 13 suspected Cattle Rustlers, recover 27 Cows in Kaduna

The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 13 suspected cattle rustlers and the recovery of 27 cows along the Kaduna–Abuja Expressway.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, disclosed in a statement on Tuesday that the suspects were intercepted on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at about 12:00 pm, after the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Toll Gate Division received credible intelligence.
He explained that the DPO immediately mobilised his men and mounted a snap checkpoint on the highway, where three vehicles transporting the stolen cattle were intercepted.
Those arrested include Lawal Sarki, Sule VIO, Ayuba Mohammed, Mohammed Bashir, Abu Mai Chaji, Abdullateef Lateef, Shamsudden Abdullahi, Jonathan Ishaya, and Yakubu Alhassan. Others are Alhaji Abu, Lawal Abdullahi, Shamsudeen Abdullahi, and Abba Hamisu.
According to Hassan, one of the suspects confessed that the cattle were received from a notorious bandit identified as Lagu, who has been on the police wanted list, as well as another accomplice, Abdullahi of Rijana, who is still at large.
He further stated that investigations into the syndicate are ongoing, while efforts are being intensified to apprehend other accomplices.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, assured residents of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
He called on the public to continue providing timely and useful information to assist security operations in the state.
