Portable declares Himself fit as Ogun court grants Him bail

Popular musician Habeeb Okikiola Olalomi Badmus, widely known as Portable, has assured the Ogun State High Court that he is in good health and does not suffer from any illness or disease.
Portable made this statement before Justice O. L. Oke at the Ogun State High Court in Abeokuta while addressing recent reports linking him to Aro Psychiatric Hospital, a facility known for treating mental health patients.
The singer is currently facing multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit corruption, assault, possession of a knife and gun, disturbance of public peace, and obstruction of government officials in the line of duty.
Justice O. L. Oke, who presided over the case on Wednesday, 2nd February 2025, instructed Portable to comply with all bail conditions set by the court.
Last week, Portable voluntarily surrendered to the police in Lagos before being transferred to the Ogun State Police Command.
The case was brought to court following allegations by Timileyin Oredehin. However, it remains unclear whether Portable physically assaulted the government officials involved in a dispute over a Town Planning matter in Ogun State.
Portable is facing five separate charges, all linked to conspiracy, corruption, and assault under the state’s criminal laws. The singer pleaded not guilty to all accusations.
His defence counsel, Oluwatoyin Omomeyin Ayodele, urged the court to grant his client bail, arguing that the charges were not severe. He reassured the court that Portable would honour all legal proceedings and would not attempt to evade trial.
The lawyer also appealed to the court to consider his client’s compliance with the legal process and not focus solely on the allegations against him.
In granting bail, the Chief Judge ruled that Portable must provide a bond of two million naira and secure two sureties residing in Ogun State.
“If you leave this court and go online to make noise about what happened here, your bail will be revoked. If you continue to cause trouble or interfere with government officials, your bail will be revoked.
“If you fail to appear in court as required or arrive late for any proceedings, your bail will be revoked. You must start behaving responsibly,” the Chief Judge sternly warned.
The trial has been adjourned to 5th March 2025, with a related case involving Portable’s children scheduled for 17th March 2025.
