PRNigeria Journalist abducted by Gunmen in Kogi State
A multimedia journalist with Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR), publishers of PRNigeria, Economic Confidential, and other titles, Salis Manaja, has been kidnapped by unidentified gunmen.
The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday while Manaja was travelling from Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, to Ilorin, Kwara State, for the PRNigeria Young Communication Scholars Fellowship. He was said to have been abducted along Kogi State.
Confirming the abduction, the Head of Innovation and Special Projects at PRNigeria, Dahiru Muhammad-Lawal, said the news had left the organization’s staff members devastated.
Narrating his last conversation with the victim, Lawal, who also leads the fellowship programme, said: “We were expecting to see him in Ilorin on Saturday, but his line became unreachable despite confirming to us that he had departed from Abakaliki. We made several attempts to get in touch but to no avail. Eventually, we were able to speak with him through the numbers of his abductors on Sunday afternoon.”
He further stated that the management is making frantic efforts and working closely with security authorities to ensure the safe return of Manaja.
