PSG thrash Inter Milan to claim historic first UEFA Champions League Title
French heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain have finally captured their elusive UEFA Champions League title, dismantling Inter Milan in a one-sided final on Saturday evening in Munich.
In what will go down as one of the most commanding displays in the history of the competition, the Ligue 1 champions overwhelmed the Italian outfit from start to finish at the Allianz Arena, cruising to a 5–0 victory and completing a historic treble, having already secured the domestic double.
PSG signalled their intent early on, with teenage prodigy Désiré Doué setting up Achraf Hakimi for a simple close-range finish just 12 minutes in. The Moroccan full-back, out of respect for his former club, refrained from celebrating.
Eight minutes later, Doué found the net himself, capping off a blistering counter-attack with a deflected effort off Federico Dimarco that wrong-footed the goalkeeper.
Despite their efforts, Inter struggled to make any meaningful impact, with Marcus Thuram wasting a rare opportunity to reduce the deficit. Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia both came close to extending PSG’s lead before the interval.
Simone Inzaghi’s men sought to mount a response in the second half, but PSG’s relentless pressure proved too much. Doué notched his second of the night just after the hour mark, effectively putting the result beyond doubt.
Georgian winger Kvaratskhelia added a fourth with a clinical low finish, before 19-year-old substitute Senny Mayulu sealed the emphatic win with only his second touch of the match, netting the fifth goal and securing the largest winning margin ever recorded in a Champions League final.
The victory marks PSG’s first-ever European triumph, making them only the second French club to lift the prestigious trophy, following Marseille’s success in 1993.
