Remo Stars crowned NPFL Champions for the first time in historic victory
Remo Stars made history on Sunday night by clinching their first-ever Nigeria Premier Football League title with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes.
In a match filled with tension and missed opportunities, it was Olamilekan Adedayo who became the hero, netting the decisive goal in the 84th minute to trigger wild celebrations among players and fans.
From the start, Remo Stars showed attacking hunger. Alex Oyowah saw an early goal disallowed for offside, while Nduka Junior, Sikiru Alimi, and Bello Babatunde all came close to breaking the deadlock, but the first half ended goalless.
The second half saw the Sky Blue Stars intensify their pressure. Oyowah rattled the crossbar and forced another fine save from the opposing goalkeeper. Substitutions injected fresh life into the attack, with Haruna Hadi narrowly missing before Adedayo finally fired home the winner.
Remo Stars held their nerve in the final minutes to secure a vital three points and the league title. The victory puts them top of the NPFL table with 68 points from 35 games, marking a season of determination, tactical discipline, and a historic moment for the club in Nigerian football.
