Renowned Broadcaster and Former UK envoy Christopher Kolade dies at 92
Christopher Kolade, a renowned diplomat, broadcaster, and elder statesman, has died at the age of 92.
His family confirmed his passing in a statement that read, “We are thankful for his incredible life of faith and service, and are grateful for God’s abundant blessings.”
According to the statement, Kolade died peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
Born in 1932, Kolade served as the Director-General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) and was active in the nation’s broadcasting industry between 1960 and 1978.
He had his early education in Nigeria before proceeding to Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, for his university studies.
A distinguished public servant, Kolade also served as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom from 2002 to 2007.
