The Super Falcons of Nigeria have missed out on the next stage of the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualification play-offs after losing to South Africa.

Nigeria faced South Africa in a crucial WAFCON play-off match, with the winner expected to secure progression to the intercontinental play-offs.

Two tickets were available, with the four losing quarter-finalists at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) battling for the spots.

Ghana had earlier secured one of the two tickets after defeating Côte d’Ivoire.

The result means the Super Falcons will not advance to the next stage of the qualification process, ending their immediate hopes of securing a route to the 2027 Women’s World Cup through the play-offs.
