Swiatek stages thrilling comeback to stay in French Open title hunt
Polish tennis sensation Iga Swiatek pulled off a remarkable comeback on Sunday to defeat Elena Rybakina and keep her quest for a fourth consecutive French Open title alive.
Rybakina, a former Wimbledon champion, dominated early in the match, taking the first set in commanding fashion. But Swiatek, the reigning champion at Roland Garros, fought back fiercely, turning the game around to claim a hard-fought victory in three sets, 1-6, 6-3, 7-5.
In another gripping encounter, Elina Svitolina stunned the tournament’s fourth seed and last year’s finalist Jasmine Paolini. Svitolina delivered a strong performance to seal a 6-4, 6-7, 6-1 win, securing her spot in the quarter-finals.
