Tinubu applauds Tems’ historic Grammy win, hails Nigerian music’s global rise

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian music sensation Temilade Openiyi, better known as Tems, for winning the Best African Music Performance award at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards held in Los Angeles on Sunday.
Speaking on behalf of the nation, the President praised Tems for her unique talent, which has once again brought pride to Nigeria on the global stage. This marks her second major achievement at the prestigious event.
This was contained in a statement by the special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga and made available to journalists.
President Tinubu also celebrated the new wave of young Nigerian musicians who are taking Afrobeats to the world, boosting Nigeria’s global reputation as a hub of musical innovation and creativity.
He remarked, “From Africa to Antarctica, Asia to Australia, Europe to the Americas, Nigerian music, especially Afrobeats, has become a source of national pride, promoting identity, unity, and self-expression.”
The President extended his congratulations to other Nigerian Grammy nominees this year, including Yemi Alade, Asake, Wizkid, Lojay, Davido, and Burna Boy, thanking them for putting Nigeria on the world map and showcasing the country’s creative excellence.
“You are all inspiration and role models to many young people. The nation remains deeply grateful for your contributions to music, job creation, and tourism promotion,” he added.
President Tinubu wished all the artists continued success in their careers.
