Tinubu mourns Arise TV Journalist killed in Abuja robbery
President Bola Tinubu has expressed grief over the death of Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, a news anchor and producer with Arise Television, who was killed during an armed robbery at her residence in Katampe, Abuja, on Sunday.
In a statement on Tuesday by his special adviser on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu said he received the news of her passing with “deep sorrow,” describing Maduagwu as a “promising professional journalist whose life was cut short in a cruel and condemnable manner.”
The president directed security and law enforcement agencies to carry out a swift and thorough investigation into the incident and ensure that those responsible are apprehended and brought to justice without delay.
While consoling the bereaved family, Tinubu reassured Nigerians of his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, noting that measures are being strengthened to combat crime in all its forms.
