Tinubu submits fresh ₦1.48 Trillion Rivers budget to National Assembly

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially transmitted a revised budget proposal of ₦1.48 trillion for Rivers State to the National Assembly for approval, following the Supreme Court’s nullification of the state’s 2025 appropriation law and the declaration of emergency rule in the state.
According to details of the proposal, ₦324 billion is allocated for infrastructure development, ₦166 billion for health, ₦75.6 billion for education, and ₦31.4 billion earmarked for agricultural initiatives. The presidency noted that the agriculture component alone is expected to generate no fewer than 6,000 new jobs for residents of the state.
In a letter accompanying the proposal on Thursday, President Tinubu urged the National Assembly to treat the appropriation bill as a matter of urgent national importance for the stability and welfare of Rivers people.
